Lunchtime BBQ at Fishing Cactus

Friday, June 26th, 2009

It is sometimes very good to have a break at lunch time and not playing TF2. Could you tell me what’s better than having a small BBQ (mobile) in the garden of the company office when the weather is sunny and warm? Nothing! A nice idea for an iPhone App?

Mobile BBQ @ Fishing Cactus

Wikipedia definition of BBQ: Barbecue or barbeque (common spelling variant) [1] (with abbreviations BBQ, Bar-B-Q and Bar-B-Que; diminutive form of barbie, used chiefly in Australia & New Zealand; and called Braai in South Africa) is a method and apparatus for cooking food, often meat, with the heat and hot gases of a fire, smoking wood, or hot coals of charcoal or a propane gas grill, and may include application of a marinade, spice rub, or basting sauce to the meat. The term as a noun can refer to the cooking apparatus itself, or to a party that includes such food. The term as an adjective can refer to foods cooked by this method. The term is also used as a verb for the act of cooking food in this manner. Barbecue is usually cooked in an outdoor environment heated by the smoke of wood or charcoal. Restaurant barbecue may be cooked in large brick or metal ovens specially designed for that purpose.

30.000 downloads for Equilibrio Lite

EquilibrioSmaller numbers for Equilibrio but still very good numbers. Less than 6 weeks after its release Equilibrio Lite reached the 30,000 units downloaded step.

Of course there is no comparison with Shift simply because it is not based on an existing licence and the genre is somewhat more crowded for Equilibrio (Rolando, Labyrinth). We’re currently working on a small article for the blog to explain some insights we got from the Store.

As usual, stay tuned.

500.000 downloads for Shift Lite

Shift iPhone:Shift Lite: has reached the steps of 500.000 units downloaded last week and :Shift: Full reached the top #5 of all paid apps in the US. Do I have to say that the game is only available since 4 weeks?

For us and Armor Games this is really an achievement and, with an average rating of 4 stars on 5, we are quite proud of the game we created for the iPhone. We can now safely say that this game is a success.

We are currently thinking with Armor Games about an update for the game. Content of this update will not be disclosed now but will be here in the coming weeks if it is green-lighted :)

For those who are enjoying the Shift experience, I can only say one thing, stay tuned!

Fishing Cactus website awards

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Best Website AwardsWe got a lot a visitors recently on the website. On top of one of the best design (aren’t those cactuses cute and silly?) made by Michael Heald, the website gathered quite a lot of awards from various dedicated websites around the web.

We would like to thank them in this post for all the support and nice words we got for the website and its design. Here is the list of websites which featured Fishing Cactus’ website as one of the best in World Wide Web (wow this sounds so egocentric):

- CSSBeauty.com
- Thebestdesigns.com
- CSSMania.com
- CSSWow
- CSSBuilt.com
- Moluv.com
- MostInspired.com
- Designfridge.co.uk
- CSSIllustrated.com
- CSSLoggia.com

Once again, thank you!

Equilibrio featured on TUAW

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

EquilibrioTUAW posted an interesting article about Equilibrio which can be found at this URL.

In a nutshell the review is very positive and TUAW is also organizing a small contest where you have to think about a new material for our rolling ball. So if you feel creative today there is still a chance to win one of the 5 promo codes available.

“The app, which is also available for Nintendo Wii, is an addictive game in which you roll balls made of various materials (rock, paper, steel, rubber, and more) around a maze using the iPhone’s accelerometers to control where the balls go.”
